Sunsure UK:
The Threat of Cyber Crime
After the devastating news that the NHS underwent an immeasurable disruption during a cyber attack at the beginning of last month, which could have caused the loss of life, do we need to worry about further disruptions?
Everyone needs to be as cautious as possible when it comes to ransomware, which is a type of malware that allows cyber attackers to search, detect and encrypt all of your critical data. You will then be asked to pay a ransom payment to receive the decryption key and could be hundreds to thousands of pounds.
Small and medium sized businesses are likely targets due to limited resources within a company that shouldn’t need to have highly expensive systems and maintenance packages within their online security.
The threats cyber criminals pose is to exploit a variety of vectors in email, user behaviour, network traffic and more. Also the stats are worrying –
The Guardian has quoted “Ransomware is fast becoming a ubiquitous security threat, with nearly 40% of all businesses experiencing an attack in the past year, according to research from computer security firm Malwarebytes. The figure is even worse in Britain, where 54% of surveyed businesses had been targeted with such an attack”
With news like this we at Sunsure UK urge all businesses to ensure you have an up to date and well maintained online security package to save your company from dealing with the crushing pressure cyber criminals are putting on us.
